The Institut National Supérieur des Arts et de l'Action Culturelle (INSAAC) is located in Abidjan Cocody on the boulevard de l'Université Félix Houphouët Boigny, between the Cité des Arts and the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) de Cocody.
The Institut National Supérieur des Arts et de l'Action Culturelle (INSAAC) is a national public institution for higher education and research, with public legal personality and financial autonomy. It was created by decree no. 91-663 of October 09, 1991. INSAAC is the result of the merger of the Institut National des Arts (INA) and the Centre d'Animation et de Formation à l'Action Culturelle (CAFAC). Article 27 of this merger abrogates decrees n° 71-433 of September 10, 1971 and n° 86-335 of May 22, 1986. In 2017, a new decree was signed: decree n°2017-126 of February 22, 2017 setting out the remit, organization and operation of the Institut National Supérieur des Arts et de l'Action Culturelle, abbreviated INSAAC.
INSAAC is a national public administrative institution with legal personality under public law and financial autonomy, under the technical supervision of the Minister of Culture, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the economic and financial supervision of the Minister of the Budget.
INSAAC is a higher education establishment dedicated to research, creation and animation in all areas of the arts, culture, tourism and crafts.
To this end, it is responsible for
- providing initial and continuing training in all areas of the arts, tourism and culture;
- providing pedagogical training for teachers and art education inspectors in secondary schools.
- conduct specialized research in all areas of the arts, tourism and culture;
- develop research on the national cultural, tourist and artistic heritage;
- develop traditional and modern cultural and artistic creation;
- promote the results of research into cultural, tourist and artistic products;
- provide artistic and cultural events on demand, both nationally and internationally;
- train cultural technicians and administrators
- train technicians and administrators in tourism and handicrafts
