Côte d'Ivoire–UNFPA Cooperation: “UNFPA Has Helped Us Improve Our Score in Key Sectors,” Says Prime Minister Beugré Mambé

During an official audience granted to the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Diene Keita, on September 10, 2025, in Abidjan, the Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire, Robert Beugré Mambé, highlighted that the UN agency has played a key role in helping the country improve its performance in vital sectors for its future.

The Prime Minister praised the excellent relationship between Côte d'Ivoire and the UNFPA and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to intensify its efforts toward national development.

For her part, UNFPA Executive Director Diene Keita outlined the purpose and importance of the meeting.

“We discussed Côte d'Ivoire’s development policy and the work we are doing together — not only in the field of data and statistics but also in areas related to population issues, such as maternal health, child health, and adolescent girls,” she explained.

She also underscored Côte d'Ivoire’s leading role in the region, noting:

“This is the first country I am visiting. Côte d'Ivoire is a beacon of hope for the region.”

According to Keita, the country has achieved notable results in terms of its economic fabric, as well as in the education and health sectors.

She concluded by reaffirming UNFPA’s commitment to supporting Côte d’Ivoire on its development journey.

“Côte d'Ivoire is a land of hospitality, home to refugees and displaced populations. We are here to engage with the government and provide support,” she said.
