Côte d’Ivoire seeks to strengthen poultry sector through Italian partnerships

Côte d’Ivoire is seeking to strengthen its poultry industry through closer economic cooperation with Italian companies, as the country looks to boost production, investment and innovation across the sector.

On September 8, 2026, Minister of Animal and Fisheries Resources Sidi Tiémoko Touré attended the FierAvicola Leader Trade Fair in Cocody, an initiative supported by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Trade Agency.

The event brought together Italian companies and Ivorian and regional players in the poultry industry, with the aim of creating new business opportunities and strengthening economic ties between Italy and West Africa.

Touré described the poultry sector as strategic for Côte d’Ivoire, highlighting its contribution to supplying animal protein, creating jobs and supporting a wide range of related economic activities.

He encouraged Ivorian and regional companies to use the event to discover new technologies and innovations, establish partnerships and explore investment opportunities that could help the poultry industry enter a new phase of development.

The event also served to promote FierAvicola 2027, which is scheduled to take place in April 2027 in Rimini, Italy.

The initiative comes as Côte d’Ivoire seeks to modernize its poultry industry and attract international expertise and investment to strengthen the sector’s contribution to food security and economic growth.
