Koné Daouda Soukpafolo Officially Becomes Majority Shareholder of Uniwax
COIC now holds 15 million shares of Uniwax, representing 72.29% of the capital and voting rights, following the sale of the stakes previously owned by the Vlisco Group. This transaction materializes the agreement announced in February between Uniwax, Vlisco, and the Compagnie ivoirienne de coton (COIC).
Ivorian businessman Koné Daouda Soukpafolo officially becomes the majority shareholder of Uniwax with 72.29% of the equity. Through COIC, which he heads, he acquired 15 million shares from three entities of the Vlisco Group.
The over-the-counter, off-market transaction was subject to four major-shareholding disclosure filings published on Friday, September 18. COIC reported its entry into Uniwax's capital, while FRAGECI, CFCI SA, and Vlisco B.V. declared the sale of their respective holdings. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The 15 million shares were previously distributed among FRAGECI, which held 14,632,275 shares (70.5% of the capital); CFCI SA, which held 262,500 shares (1.3%); and Vlisco B.V., with 105,225 shares (0.5%). The Ivorian cotton operator announced its intention to participate directly in Uniwax's governance over the next twelve months.
A Sale Announced in February
On February 10, 2026, Uniwax had announced an agreement to sell the Vlisco Group's stake in Uniwax to COIC. The transaction involved 15 million of the 20.75 million total shares making up the company's equity capital. At that time, the deal had not yet been finalized and remained subject to necessary regulatory approvals.
While the Vlisco Group temporarily remained the controlling shareholder of Uniwax, COIC prepared to take over the stake. The disclosure published on Friday marks a decisive step in this acquisition process
