The European Union (EU) is reinforcing its commitment to supporting Côte d’Ivoire in promoting peace, stability, and security.
As part of the Security and Defence Initiative in support of West African countries in the Gulf of Guinea (EUSDI GoG), the EU Ambassador, Irchad Ramiandrasoa Razaaly, on Monday, March 23, handed over a specialized vehicle to the Ivorian Gendarmerie. The equipment was officially received by General Apalo Touré.
This vehicle, dedicated to forensic police operations, will help strengthen the criminal investigation chain of the National Gendarmerie, enhancing its ability to conduct technical and scientific investigations.
Boosting operational capacity
The donation is part of a broader package of EU support aimed at strengthening the operational capabilities of the Ivorian Gendarmerie. The initiative seeks to improve security for citizens while reinforcing the rule of law across the country.
A long-term commitment to stability
Since 2021, the European Union has mobilized over €200 million to support northern border regions of Côte d’Ivoire. These efforts are designed to back national strategies focused on stability and the prevention of security threats.
Through initiatives like EUSDI GoG, the EU continues to play a key role in supporting Côte d’Ivoire’s efforts to maintain peace and strengthen its security framework in a challenging regional context.
