Heifer International and Côte d’Ivoire have joined forces to develop the dairy sector. The Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries of Côte d’Ivoire and Heifer International signed a memorandum of understanding that marks a new milestone for the sustainable development of the national dairy industry.
This collaboration is part of the MeLiTeJi-WASU project, a regional initiative that covers Senegal, Mali, Niger, and Côte d’Ivoire. The goal is to achieve 20% incorporation of local milk and to create 130,000 jobs for young people, with 70% of these opportunities targeted for women and 5% for vulnerable groups.
Heifer International will provide its expertise to strengthen the capacities of producers, support the structuring of dairy organizations, promote technological and organizational innovation, and contribute to the emergence of a competitive and inclusive sector.
The project is financially supported by the Mastercard Foundation and receives strategic support from FAM Advisory SAS and La Laiterie Du Berger.
This partnership reflects a shared vision of building a strong Ivorian dairy sector that creates added value and generates employment for future generations.
