UK Reaffirms Support for the International Academy for the fight Against Terrorism
On June 22, the British Ambassador, John Marshall, received General Allah Joseph Kouamé, Director General of the International Academy for the Fight against Terrorism (AILCT), in the context of the United Kingdom’s continued support for the institution.
This meeting highlighted the strengthening partnership between the United Kingdom and the AILCT, a key regional hub dedicated to counter-terrorism training and cooperation in West Africa.
The United Kingdom has renewed its commitment to the Academy by pledging a contribution of £800,000 (approximately 600 million CFA francs) over a three-year period. Half of this funding will specifically support the integration of African states into the Academy’s Board of Directors, aligning with the Ivorian government’s ambition to transform the AILCT into a fully pan-African initiative.
In addition to financial support, the United Kingdom will continue its engagement through the deployment of a civilian expert to the Academy. It will also provide specialized training delivered by British armed forces experts, contributing to the strengthening of regional security and the promotion of African-led solutions to security challenges.
This renewed cooperation reflects a shared commitment to enhancing stability and countering terrorism across the region through capacity building, institutional support, and international partnership.
