Citizen Sponsorship: CEI Warns Against Manipulation Related to the Use of Mobile Terminals

The Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) has issued a warning against any manipulation or attempt to spread misinformation regarding the use of mobile terminals provided to political actors for the collection of sponsorships ahead of the upcoming October 2025 presidential election.

“The Commission will not tolerate any propaganda or manipulation attempts through misleading claims spread on social media. It reserves the right to initiate legal proceedings against any individual found guilty of making such unfounded allegations,” warned the CEI in a statement released on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

According to the Commission, any electronic device, including mobile terminals, may present usage difficulties for some users. This is why training sessions have been conducted for several weeks for the collectors appointed by candidates who have been duly registered with its services.

These trainings are being carried out continuously, both at the Commission's headquarters and in regional and departmental capitals, with the technical support of local CEI offices, the statement added.

The CEI reaffirmed its full availability and encouraged all concerned individuals to contact the appropriate CEI services in case of any difficulty using the provided equipment.

The sponsorship collection process, which began on Tuesday, will end on August 26, 2025.
