The Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire – African Democratic Rally (PDCI-RDA) reacted strongly on Friday, August 22, 2025, following the circulation on social media of a document presented as correspondence sent by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to the Permanent Representative of Côte d’Ivoire at the UN.
A Note Deemed Fake and Unauthenticated
According to the statement signed by Me Blessy Jean Chrysostome, party official, PDCI-RDA experts conducted several verification steps to establish the document’s authenticity. The analyses clearly showed that the document was never issued by the High Commissioner for Human Rights and was not sent to Côte d’Ivoire’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
The PDCI-RDA therefore qualifies this document as fake and warns against attempts to manipulate public opinion.
A Call for Caution and Mobilization
Consequently, the historic party invites its members as well as all Ivorian citizens not to give any credibility to this false note. “The PDCI-RDA urges its members and Ivorians not to give any weight to this document,” the statement emphasizes.
The party calls for vigilance amid the rise of fake information, especially in an electoral context with high-stakes issues.
Focus on Tidjane Thiam’s Candidacy Filing
While denying this rumor, the PDCI-RDA took the opportunity to remind its members to be ready to support the filing of its president, Tidjane Thiam, with the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI).
The formal act is scheduled for Sunday, August 24, starting at 12:00 PM.
With this swift reaction, the PDCI-RDA aims to demonstrate its determination to preserve the serenity of political debate and keep its members focused on the crucial upcoming electoral milestone.
