Côte d'Ivoire's journey at the 2026 FIFA World Cup came to an end on Tuesday, June 30, after the Elephants suffered a 2-1 defeat to Norway in the Round of 32 at Dallas Stadium.

Norway took the lead in the 39th minute through Antonio Nusa, whose well-taken finish gave his side a deserved advantage heading into halftime.

After the break, Emerse Faé's men increased the pressure in search of an equalizer and were finally rewarded in the 74th minute. Substitute Amad Diallo produced a brilliant solo effort to level the score, reigniting hopes among Ivorian supporters.

However, the Elephants' celebrations were short-lived. In the 86th minute, Erling Haaland found the back of the net to restore Norway's lead and seal his team's place in the next round.

The defeat brings an end to Côte d'Ivoire's memorable 2026 World Cup campaign, which was highlighted by the nation's first-ever qualification for the knockout stage of the tournament. Norway, meanwhile, advances to the Round of 16, where it will face Brazil.
