The Africa Cup of Nations 2027 will take place from June 19 to July 17, 2027, the Confederation of African Football announced, putting to rest speculation about a possible postponement of the tournament.
In a recent statement, CAF confirmed that the competition will proceed as scheduled, adding that details regarding the opening match and the final venue will be communicated at a later stage.
The tournament has been jointly awarded to Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, marking the first time in the competition’s history that it will be hosted by three countries. However, concerns have been raised in recent months over the pace of infrastructure development in the host nations.
In February, CAF dismissed media reports suggesting a possible delay to 2028 due to preparedness issues. “I am confident that we will deliver a very successful AFCON in these three countries,” CAF president Patrice Motsepe said during a press conference in Tanzania.
Despite logistical and organizational challenges, African football authorities have reiterated their confidence in the hosts’ ability to meet international standards. Monitoring and inspection missions are ongoing to support preparations and ensure readiness ahead of the tournament.
AFCON 2027 comes amid broader efforts to modernize and expand African football, with a growing emphasis on infrastructure, organization, and global visibility.
