Côte d’Ivoire Wins Six Medals at African Athletics Championships in Accra

Côte d’Ivoire ended its participation in the African Athletics Championships held in Accra, Ghana, with a total of six medals: four gold, one silver, and one bronze.

The country’s gold medal performances came from Nicolas Huys, who won the decathlon, Maboundou Koné in the women’s 200 meters, Cheickna Traoré in the men’s 200 meters, and the men’s 4x100 meters relay team. The silver medal was earned by Denis Dinedye in the 400 meters hurdles, while Marie-Jeanne Ouréga secured bronze in the long jump.

Serge Doh, Vice-President of the Ivorian Athletics Federation and team leader, praised the team’s performance, describing the results as highly satisfactory and highlighting the achievement against strong athletic nations such as Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and South Africa.

The Ivorian Ambassador to Ghana, Assiélou Félix Tanon, also congratulated the delegation, expressing pride in their achievement and encouraging them to continue performing at a high level.

With this performance, Côte d’Ivoire leaves Accra with one of its strongest results in recent years.
