ECOWAS Summit: Vice President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné Represents the Head of State in Abuja
The Vice President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, left Abidjan on Sunday, December 14, 2025, for Abuja, Nigeria, where he is representing President Alassane Ouattara at the 68th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
According to an official statement from the Presidency of the Republic, this high-level meeting will bring together West African leaders to discuss major issues affecting the sub-region, particularly political, security, and economic challenges.
During the summit, Heads of State and Government will review several strategic reports, including the State of the Community report, the outcomes of the 55th Ordinary Meeting of the ECOWAS Mediation and Security Council, as well as progress made on the ECOWAS single currency programme.
Côte d’Ivoire’s participation in this summit reflects the country’s continued commitment to regional integration, political stability, and the consolidation of peace in West Africa.
The Abuja meeting takes place in a sub-regional context marked by persistent security challenges and the growing need to strengthen economic cooperation among ECOWAS Member States.
