Côte d’Ivoire: Majoris Financial Group secures license to launch Sirius Bank
Côte d’Ivoire’s banking sector is set to welcome a new player. According to exclusive information from Sika Finance, Majoris Financial Group, a financial holding company led by Ivorian investment banker Niamkey Tanoé, has obtained regulatory approval to establish a new commercial bank in the country. The institution will operate under the name Sirius Bank Côte d’Ivoire.
While Majoris Financial Group remains relatively unknown to the general public, its subsidiaries are well established within the West African financial industry. The group, which specializes in acquiring and managing investments in the financial sector across Côte d’Ivoire and West Africa, operates through Sirius Capital, an investment banking and brokerage firm, and Sirius Finances, a microfinance institution.
Majoris says it leverages its deep understanding of Africa’s economic, political, and financial environment, along with a strong network of regional and international partners, to provide financing solutions to governments, public institutions, businesses, and individual clients.
The planned launch of Sirius Bank comes as Côte d’Ivoire’s banking industry continues to expand. As the largest economy in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), the country hosts the region’s largest banking market, with around 30 licensed commercial banks operating nationwide.
The timeline for the official launch of Sirius Bank Côte d’Ivoire and details of its commercial strategy have yet to be announced. Further official information is expected in the coming weeks.
