Ceremony of Departure for Mrs. Ana Fonseca, Head of Mission of IOM Guinea and Liberia

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Palm Camayenne Hotel, representatives from the diplomatic corps, national institutions, UN agencies, technical and financial partners, international organizations, and civil society gathered to bid farewell to Mrs. Ana Fonseca, Head of Mission for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Guinea and Liberia, following her four-year tenure.

The ceremony was marked by speeches from Mrs. Kristele Younes, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System, who praised the synergy between UN agencies and national authorities in the implementation of the country’s development priorities. Also addressing the gathering was Ambassador Abdoulaye Youla, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Guineans Abroad, who highlighted the significance of the partnership between the Government of the Republic of Guinea and IOM Guinea for the effective and humane management of migration issues.

In her speech, Ana Fonseca expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all partners for their unwavering support and commitment throughout her mandate. She reflected on the milestones of her four years in Guinea, recounting the challenges overcome, collective successes, and the strong relationships she built with communities and partners. She also shared personal memories, expressing her deep attachment to Guinea and its people, and emphasized how this tenure had been significant both professionally and personally.
