🇨🇮 From Gold to Lithium: Corica Mining Expands Its Footprint in Mali’s Mining Sector
Based in Abidjan, Corica Mining Services is continuing its expansion across West Africa. The Ivorian mining contractor has been selected by Australian company Toubani Resources as the mining contractor for the future Kobada Gold Project in Mali, subject to the finalization of the remaining contractual terms.
The five-year contract further strengthens Corica’s already significant presence in Mali. The company is currently active at the Syama and Sadiola gold mines, as well as the Goulamina Lithium Project, where it has been delivering large-scale mining services since 2022.
For Toubani Resources, the partnership marks an important milestone ahead of the planned start of construction at Kobada later this year. The project is expected to produce an average of 162,000 ounces of gold annually over a 9.2-year mine life, with an estimated capital investment of US$216 million.
Beyond the contract itself, Corica’s continued growth highlights the rising influence of African mining service companies in an industry that has long been dominated by major international contractors. Alongside Ghanaian firms such as Engineers & Planners, Corica is demonstrating that regional expertise is steadily gaining ground across the West African mining value chain.
