New Regulations on Telecommunications Services by ARTCI Effective from September 16, 2024
On August 5, 2024, the Ivory Coast Telecommunications and ICT Regulatory Authority (ARTCI) issued two decisions regarding mobile telecommunications services to foster healthy competition among market players and benefit consumers, according to a statement from ARTCI dated August 26, 2024.
The first decision repeals the regulation of January 12, 2023, which governed service offers in the retail mobile telecommunications market. The new measures include provisions for preserving the benefits already acquired by customers before the repeal decision was made. Customers will have the right to utilize these benefits until March 31, 2025.
The second decision sets forth the conditions and modalities applicable to service offers in the retail mobile telecommunications market. This regulation aims to enhance the obligation of operators to provide clear and transparent information about their service offers. It specifically addresses permanent and promotional offers directed at individual customers.
These new regulations will take effect from September 16, 2024, and can be reviewed on the ARTCI website: www.artci.ci.
