The whole of Côte d’Ivoire expressed its solidarity with Minister-Advisor to the Presidency, Laurent Tchagba, who is deeply affected by the loss of his wife, Mrs. Catherine Tchagba.

From March 1 to March 8, 2026, during the condolence period, a wave of compassion accompanied the grieving family, reflecting the national emotion caused by this loss and the respect held for the Tchagba couple.

Relatives, friends, colleagues, members of the public, and public figures visited the family home at Deux-Plateaux Vallon, then the residence in Marcory, and finally the public square in the village of Abidjan-Agban, in the commune of Attécoubé, to offer their condolences.

The country’s highest authorities, including the Presidency of the Republic, institutional leaders, Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé, the Vice Prime Minister, ministers of state, and senior government officials, as well as religious leaders, traditional chiefs, movements, and associations, visited Minister-Advisor Tchagba.

The Prime Minister made multiple visits, first with the government delegation, then leading a delegation from the Association of Civil Engineering Engineers and Technicians of the National Polytechnic Institute Félix Houphouët-Boigny (INPHB) and Atchan community leaders, to express compassion and support.

The broader political family of the Rassemblement des houphouëtistes pour la démocratie et la paix (RHDP), to which Laurent Tchagba belongs, along with other parties including PDCI deputies and mayors, PPA-CI officials, and FPI leaders, also expressed their support for the grieving family.

Several international organizations, such as the World Bank, ECOWAS, and FAO, sent condolences. The large family of Water and Forests, led by Minister Assahoré Konan Jacques, Laurent Tchagba’s successor in the department, also joined the tributes.

Religious leaders, traditional chiefs, and residents of the Atchan and Akyé villages were present in large numbers, offering prayers for the repose of Mrs. Catherine Tchagba’s soul and for the comfort of her loved ones. At each visit, delegations encouraged the family to draw strength from national solidarity and prayer to overcome this painful ordeal.

Minister Kandia Camara expressed her solidarity during this period of mourning.
