Côte d’Ivoire: Gaoussou Touré Appointed Mediator of the Republic
By decree issued on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the President of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, appointed Gaoussou Touré as the new Mediator of the Republic. He replaces Adama Toungara, who has been called to other duties.
Gaoussou Touré Takes Over from Adama Toungara
Gaoussou Touré has officially been named Mediator of the Republic. A long-time loyal figure within President Alassane Ouattara’s circle, his name frequently appears in government appointments during successive mandates.
Before this new role, Gaoussou Touré held several key positions within the Ivorian government. He served as Minister of Transport from 2011 to 2017, Minister Advisor in 2018, Minister for the Promotion of Rice from 2019 to 2021, and Minister-Governor of the Denguélé District from 2021 to 2026.
The newly appointed Mediator expressed his gratitude following the announcement.
“It is with great humility and deep gratitude that I welcome my appointment by the President of the Republic as Grand Mediator of the Republic,” he said.
Gaoussou Touré also thanked President Alassane Ouattara for the renewed confidence placed in him. In response, he pledged to fully dedicate himself to the mission entrusted to him and to serving the Ivorian people.
“Together, let us continue building a great Côte d’Ivoire founded on peace, justice, and solidarity. May God bless our beloved country,” the new Mediator concluded.
