On the sidelines of the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the United Nations, Côte d'Ivoire's Minister of Women, Family, and Children, Nassénéba Touré, met with Élisabeth Baume-Schneider, Head of the Swiss Department of the Interior, to discuss innovative social initiatives aimed at improving women's education and the care of the elderly, especially in rural areas.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in New York, highlighted the importance of exchanging experiences between Côte d'Ivoire and Switzerland to strengthen women's educational institutions (IFEF). Both leaders agreed on the need to implement tailored programs that promote women's empowerment by expanding access to education and vocational training.
The discussion also addressed the challenges of caring for the elderly, particularly women in rural areas, who face the migration of younger generations to urban centers. Aware of the urgency, both ministers expressed their willingness to collaborate in finding sustainable solutions to improve the living conditions of this vulnerable population.
At the end of the meeting, Nassénéba Touré and Élisabeth Baume-Schneider reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between Côte d'Ivoire and Switzerland through concrete and inclusive initiatives that address the social challenges faced by both countries.
