From Tuesday, February 25 to Thursday, February 27, 2025, the Sofitel Abidjan Hôtel Ivoire in Abidjan-Cocody hosted a pivotal meeting for the future of artificial intelligence (AI) in Africa. The "Artificial Intelligence Day" brought together technology leaders, businesses, and political figures to explore the opportunities and challenges related to AI. This event provided an opportunity for the United States to reaffirm its commitment to collaborate with Ivory Coast, a key partner in Africa, in order to harness AI’s potential to boost innovation, competitiveness, and economic development.
On February 26, during her speech, the U.S. Ambassador to Ivory Coast, Jessica Davis Ba, highlighted the importance of this collaboration between the two nations. She emphasized that the United States is determined to work with partners who share a common vision for AI. In particular, Ivory Coast is seen as a strategic player in this transformative journey. According to the ambassador, "By working together, we can unleash innovation, promote prosperity, and uphold our shared democratic values."
This bilateral collaboration on AI goes beyond simply exchanging technologies and skills. It also extends to critical areas such as global security, trade, and investment. Ivory Coast, with its geographical position in West Africa and its ambition to become a regional leader in innovation, represents a fertile ground for fruitful partnerships in the AI sector.
