The Candidacies of Alassane Ouattara, Jean-Louis Billon, Ahoua Don Mello, Simone Gbagbo, and Henriette Lagou
On Monday, September 8, 2025, the Constitutional Council, through its president Chantal Nanaba Camara, unveiled the final list of candidates approved for the upcoming presidential election scheduled for October 25, 2025. The announcement took place at the institution's headquarters in Abidjan-Plateau.
Following the examination of the application files, five individuals were deemed eligible by the high court. These include the candidacy of Alassane Ouattara, representing the Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace (RHDP); Lagou Adjoua Henriette, flag bearer of the Political Partners for Peace Coalition (GP-PAIX); Don-Mello Sénin Ahoua Jacob, an independent candidate; Jean-Louis Billon, representing the Democratic Congress (CODE); and Ehivet Simone Gbagbo, president of the Capable Generations Movement (MGC).
According to Chantal Nanaba Camara, these five candidates were the only ones to have met the requirements of Article 55 of the Constitution and Article 48 of the Ivorian Electoral Code, which govern the eligibility criteria for the presidency.
