Minister of State Nialé KABA carries Côte d’Ivoire’s voice at the 18th World Policy Conference in France

Responding to the invitation of Thierry de Montbrial, Founder and President of the World Policy Conference (WPC), H.E. Mrs. Nialé KABA, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, represented H.E. Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, at the opening ceremony of the 18th edition of the World Policy Conference held in Chantilly, France. The high-level meeting takes place from April 24 to 26, 2026, under the theme: “Between fragmentation and interdependence: rethinking global governance.”

Alongside Gérard Larcher, President of the French Senate, His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew I, and Thierry de Montbrial, the Minister of State conveyed Côte d’Ivoire’s position in this major international forum addressing key contemporary challenges, including international trade, digital finance, fiscal governance, technological transformations, and new global security architectures.

In her statement, H.E. Mrs. Nialé KABA delivered the message of the President of the Republic, stressing that global governance must be rethought to meet the aspirations of peoples and reflect today’s realities. She highlighted the need for an inclusive reform of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, advocating for permanent African representation on the UN Security Council.

She also emphasized the urgency of a fair international financial architecture that enables developing countries to access adequate funding for structural economic transformation and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Ivorian Foreign Minister further reaffirmed the importance of fair financing for climate transition and global regulation of the digital revolution to prevent risks related to misinformation, cyberattacks, and non-state military uses of technology.

Côte d’Ivoire’s participation in this conference reflects the Head of State’s commitment to strengthening the country’s presence in global discussions and promoting responsible governance, lasting peace, and inclusive development for the benefit of all peoples.
