Abidjan Port Hosts First SCOPE Africa Steering Committee Meeting
On April 20, 2026, the Port Autonome d’Abidjan hosted the first Steering Committee meeting of the SCOPE Africa project.
The session was co-chaired by Colonel José-Nicole Kouadio Aka, representing the Permanent Secretariat of the Interministerial Committee for State Action at Sea, and by Irchad Razaaly, Ambassador of the European Union to Côte d’Ivoire.
The meeting brought together officials from the Port of Abidjan, including Colonel Coffi Yao Emmanuel and Kouadio Jules, as well as technical and financial partners. These included the SCOPE Africa delegation led by Nico Vertongen and representatives of ENABEL headed by Tom Dedeurwaerder.
Funded by the European Union and jointly implemented by Expertise France and ENABEL, the SCOPE Africa project aims to strengthen the security, efficiency and smooth functioning of port corridors in West and Central Africa through better coordination among stakeholders, stronger operational capacities and improved trade flows.
This first Steering Committee meeting provided an opportunity to review progress and lay the groundwork for coordinated governance among all stakeholders.
It also reaffirmed the commitment of the Port of Abidjan to promoting a secure, high-performing port platform that is fully integrated into regional and international logistics networks.
