Access to Drinking Water: Minister Amédé Kouakou Koffi Engages with SODECI Leadership
Abidjan, March 23, 2026 – As part of his ongoing visits to institutions under his ministry, the Minister of Hydraulics, Sanitation and Cleanliness, Amédé Kouakou Koffi, held discussions with the top management of the Water Distribution Company of Côte d’Ivoire (SODECI).
The meeting took place on Monday, March 23, 2026, during a visit to SODECI’s supervision center located in Riviera Palmeraie, Abidjan.
The objective of the visit was to assess the current state of water distribution across Côte d’Ivoire and to gain a better understanding of the supply of drinking water, both in Greater Abidjan and in cities across the country. The aim is to implement significant and sustainable improvements.
“We came to engage with SODECI to see what can be improved,” the minister stated after a closed-door meeting with the Chairman of the Board, the Chief Executive Officer, and the company’s teams.
“We will propose a program to the government so that the President’s vision—providing water to the entire population, both in urban and rural areas—can be implemented as quickly as possible,” he added.
Acknowledging that some regions experience water shortages during certain periods of the year, the minister announced that following these discussions, infrastructure works will soon be carried out in both Abidjan and other parts of the country to ensure efficient and reliable water distribution.
It is worth noting that the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara, has made access to drinking water a “national priority.” The Minister of Hydraulics aims to turn this vision into reality within the coming years, ensuring that populations have access to safe drinking water in all seasons.
