Bruno Nabagné Koné held talks on Friday with a delegation from Brazilian development company CODEVASF as Côte d’Ivoire moves to strengthen international partnerships aimed at modernizing its agricultural sector.

The meeting, held in Abidjan, was attended by Lamine Kanté, who accompanied the Brazilian delegation led by José Vivaldo.

Discussions focused on expanding cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and Brazil in agricultural development, rural modernization, and food production, according to the Ivorian Ministry of Agriculture.

Bruno Nabagné Koné said Côte d’Ivoire was seeking to improve agricultural productivity and transform the sector through strategic international partnerships.

“Many opportunities for collaboration exist between our two countries,” the minister said, highlighting the Ivorian government’s ambition to modernize agriculture and strengthen rural development.

Brazilian officials pointed to similarities between Côte d’Ivoire’s current agricultural potential and Brazil’s past transformation experience.

José Vivaldo said Côte d’Ivoire today displays “characteristics similar to those of Brazil in the past,” referring to the country’s capacity for large-scale agricultural growth and modernization.

The talks come as Côte d’Ivoire intensifies efforts to attract foreign expertise, technology, and investment into agriculture, a sector that remains a major pillar of the West African country’s economy and employment.

Brazil is widely recognized for its agricultural expertise, particularly in tropical agriculture, agribusiness development, and large-scale food production, areas in which several African countries are seeking closer cooperation.
