Côte d’Ivoire: The Renovated Daloa–Issia Road, a Potential Boost for Agricultural Transport
In Côte d’Ivoire, the renovated Daloa–Issia road was inaugurated on Saturday, October 4, by Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé. Spanning 57 kilometers and completed at a total cost of 57.8 billion CFA francs (approximately USD 103 million), the project stands as a strategic infrastructure initiative aimed at improving logistics competitiveness and population mobility.
Located in the Center-West of the country, this road plays a crucial role for cocoa, coffee, and rubber producers in the region, which contributes significantly to Côte d’Ivoire’s agricultural exports. Its previous poor condition had increased transportation costs and reduced profitability, with local media reporting that the journey could sometimes take up to four hours, along with a high risk of accidents.
Thanks to the renovation, cooperatives and transporters are expected to experience shorter delivery times to Abidjan and its ports, along with improved road safety. The project also supports the broader objective of enhancing regional economic competitiveness.
Additionally, the works included urban roads in Daloa and Issia, designed to facilitate daily mobility within the two cities.
Rural communities are now expected to benefit from better access to schools, health centers, and markets, further strengthening their economic and social integration.
