Increase in the African Solidarity Fund (ASF) capital: BADEA supports Côte d’Ivoire’s contribution of 6.682 billion FCFA
The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) has granted Côte d’Ivoire a loan of 11.1 million US dollars, approximately 6.682 billion FCFA, to finance the country’s contribution to the capital increase of the African Solidarity Fund (ASF).
The loan agreement, signed on November 26, 2025, between BADEA and Côte d’Ivoire, was ratified by the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, according to government spokesperson and Minister of Communication Amadou Coulibaly.
“Founded in 1975, the ASF promotes the economic and social development of its member states by guaranteeing bank loans and bond issues subscribed by public or semi-public institutions, African intergovernmental organizations, and private companies, in order to finance industrial, agricultural, or commercial operations or projects implemented in member states,” Amadou Coulibaly explained.
The funding covered by this agreement corresponds to Côte d’Ivoire’s total contribution to the ASF capital increase, to be paid through two annual installments of 5.5 million US dollars each.
