The military exercise Flintlock 2026 has officially begun, bringing together partner forces from more than 30 countries around a common goal: strengthening security cooperation and improving the ability to respond to threats affecting several regions of the continent.

Hosted mainly in Côte d’Ivoire, with some activities also planned in Libya, the exercise is being conducted with the support of the United States. It is considered one of the largest military cooperation exercises in Africa.

Through joint training sessions, operational simulations, and exchanges of expertise, participating forces are working to improve their coordination and readiness. The objective is to better address security threats, including terrorism, cross-border trafficking, and humanitarian crises.

Beyond its military dimension, Flintlock 2026 also reflects the willingness of participating countries to strengthen cooperation and build a collective response to current security challenges.

At a time when several regions in Africa are facing rising tensions, the exercise is seen as a strategic tool to improve stability and better protect populations.
