In Côte d’Ivoire, two projects supported by the German Cooperation through the Investment Facility for Employment (IFE) are contributing to sustainable and inclusive development, while strengthening both the local economy and international value chains.
BioAmandes stands out for its responsible management of the natural shea resource through reforestation and 100% certified organic production. Based in the rural Savanes region, the company produces refined shea butter on-site, creating local value and employment. With IFE support, production capacity will increase from 500 to 2,000 tons per year, generating 140 direct jobs, including 52% for women and 71% for youth. The project relies on a network of 2,000 women who harvest shea nuts and on women’s cooperatives that sell their production to the factory, increasing their incomes.
PrimePrestige modernizes rubber production by building a processing plant in Diapé, Adzopé Department. The plant will support the national strategy by processing 30,000 tons of rubber per year, exporting vulcanized rubber that meets international standards instead of raw rubber. Collaboration with local collection platforms will create 233 new jobs, primarily in rural areas, including around 100 positions for youth under 24. The project incorporates sustainable practices such as water recycling and solar panel installation, and aims for ECOVADIS certification, ensuring traceability and sustainability throughout the value chain.
These initiatives demonstrate how international partnerships can drive economic growth, support rural employment, and foster environmentally responsible practices in Côte d’Ivoire.
