Mavericks Mission in Côte d’Ivoire: Immersion at the Heart of Actions Supporting Menstrual Health and the Well-Being of Adolescents and Youth

From February 1 to 7, 2026, PSI Côte d’Ivoire hosted a field mission from its financial partners, the Mavericks, as part of the Mi Tchêlé project implemented across several regions of the country. The delegation, composed exclusively of women committed to improving menstrual health and the well-being of adolescent girls and young women, aimed to assess project progress on the ground and better understand the sociocultural realities surrounding menstrual health in Côte d’Ivoire.

The mission helped evaluate project achievements, strengthen collaboration with institutional partners such as UNICEF Côte d’Ivoire, and hold working sessions with officials from the National Maternal and Child Health Program and the National School and University Health Program – Adolescent and Youth Health, key national stakeholders on youth health issues.

A field immersion in Korhogo, particularly at the Lycée Moderne de Korhogo, highlighted the positive impact of activities carried out with partner organization BeGirl through awareness sessions and testimonials from beneficiary students. The delegation also met with His Majesty Issa Coulibaly, Vice President of the Chamber of Kings of Côte d’Ivoire, emphasizing the importance of community engagement.

Through this mission, PSI Côte d’Ivoire and its Mavericks partners reaffirmed their shared commitment to menstrual health, education, and the empowerment of adolescents and young people. The results observed in the field demonstrate the concrete impact of the initiatives and open the way for expansion into more communities.

The partners also experienced Ivorian culture through several activities, including visits to Mount Korhogo, Espace Bini, traditional Senoufo dances, and landmark sites in Grand-Bassam, the country’s historic capital.
