Military Cooperation: U.S. War College Delegation Engages in Strategic Exchanges in Côte d’Ivoire

Côte d’Ivoire hosted a delegation from the U.S. Army War College on April 3, 2026, as part of a strategic exchange mission with senior Ivorian military officials.

The visit reflects the growing security cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and the United States, aimed at strengthening the operational capabilities of Ivorian armed forces in the face of evolving security challenges.

During their stay, the delegation conducted a series of field visits, including to the International Academy for Counterterrorism, located in Jacqueville in the southern part of the country. They also visited the Zambakro War College, situated approximately 15 kilometers west of Yamoussoukro, the nation’s political capital, as well as the Ivorian Air Force base in Bouaké, in central Côte d’Ivoire.

These engagements provided a platform for in-depth discussions between American and Ivorian counterparts on defense strategies, intelligence sharing, and best practices in counterterrorism operations.

Backed by the United States, such knowledge exchanges are expected to enhance the preparedness of Ivorian forces while further consolidating bilateral cooperation in defense and security.

At a time when security threats are intensifying across the Sahel region, initiatives of this kind are increasingly seen as critical to anticipating risks and strengthening national resilience.
