Nigeria has begun implementing a 30-day visa-free entry policy for Rwandan nationals, in a move aimed at strengthening regional mobility and economic integration in Africa, according to immigration authorities.
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) confirmed the rollout of the policy, which allows Rwandan citizens to enter Nigeria without a visa for stays of up to 30 days for tourism, business, or official visits.
The measure follows a reciprocal arrangement with Rwanda, which already offers similar visa-free access to Nigerian nationals. Authorities say the agreement reflects growing efforts across the continent to ease travel restrictions and promote trade and cooperation among African states.
Officials described the policy as part of broader reforms aimed at improving intra-African mobility and supporting the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which seeks to boost economic integration across the continent.
Under the arrangement, travelers exceeding the 30-day limit will still be required to obtain the appropriate visa in accordance with immigration regulations.
The development comes amid a wider push by several African countries to reduce barriers to movement, encourage cross-border investment, and strengthen diplomatic ties within the region.
