Observation of Presidential Elections: ECOWAS Engages with Indigo Côte d’Ivoire

On Friday, October 3, 2025, Indigo Côte d’Ivoire hosted a delegation of observers from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) as part of long-term observation for the upcoming presidential election scheduled for October 25.

Led by Mr. Sérigne Mamadou Ka, Head of the Electoral Assistance Division at the ECOWAS Commission, the mission aimed to gather Indigo’s analysis on the national sociopolitical context and the initiatives implemented to ensure peaceful elections.

The delegation met with Indigo’s coordination officer and project managers, who shared findings from recent studies, including the Stability Barometer — a contextual analysis tool developed in partnership with the Centre for Sustainable Peace and Democratic Development (SeeD) and Interpeace, funded by the European Union Delegation in Côte d’Ivoire.

The analysis indicates that the general climate remains relatively calm ahead of the elections. However, certain structural dynamics suggest potential risks of tension in specific areas. To address these, Indigo Côte d’Ivoire has established community-based violence prevention and anticipation mechanisms.

These mechanisms, called Collaboration Frameworks (CDC), represent an innovative social engineering approach rooted in civic engagement and designed to act on deep-seated dynamics that could trigger conflict.
