Côte d’Ivoire Presidential Election 2025: Simone Ehivet Gbagbo Unveils the Main Pillars of Her Political Platform

Dr. Simone Ehivet Gbagbo, candidate of the Mouvement des Générations Capables (MGC), outlined the key pillars of her political platform on Saturday, October 11, 2025, during the official launch of her presidential campaign at the Tchintchin Square in Bouaflé.

The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of supporters from across the country, along with several political figures, including Charles Blé Goudé, president of the Pan-African Congress for Justice and People’s Equality (COJEP).

Dr. Ehivet Gbagbo structured her program around three core priorities: national reconciliation, national transformation, and sovereignty. According to her, these priorities form the foundation for the political and social renewal she envisions for Côte d’Ivoire.

“If we work together on this, we will rise again,” she declared, to loud applause from the crowd.

The MGC leader emphasized the need to place the well-being of Ivorians at the center of government action.

“A beautiful Côte d’Ivoire is good. But happy Ivorians are better,” she said, criticizing policies focused solely on infrastructure at the expense of people’s quality of life.

To her, “making Ivorians happy” means ensuring their security, health, access to quality education, and stable employment.

“When you send your children to school, they should receive proper training—training that leads to real jobs,” she stressed.

Addressing electoral matters, Dr. Ehivet Gbagbo called on her supporters to remain fully mobilized to safeguard their votes.

“Elections are not just campaign speeches. It’s about getting up, voting, and making sure your vote is respected,” she urged. She encouraged MGC members to serve as polling station representatives and to raise awareness among their neighbors to participate massively in the vote.

Holder of a Ph.D. in linguistics, Dr. Simone Ehivet Gbagbo previously served as a Member of Parliament, Vice President of the National Assembly, and a prominent member of the Ivorian Popular Front (FPI) before becoming First Lady of Côte d’Ivoire from 2000 to 2011. She founded the Mouvement des Générations Capables in 2022.

On election day, the MGC candidate will face four other contenders: incumbent President Alassane Ouattara (RHDP), Jean-Louis Billon (Democratic Congress – CODE), Henriette Lagou (Coalition of Political Partners for Peace – GP-Paix), and Ahoua Don Mello, an independent candidate.
