2027 World Cup Qualifiers (First Leg): A Second Convincing Win for the Elephants

2027 World Cup Qualifiers (First Leg): A Second Convincing Win for the Elephants

Côte d’Ivoire’s Elephants are on a roll. After their 90–80 victory over Senegal in the opening game of this first Group B window, the Ivorian national team delivered another dominant performance, defeating DR Congo 96–59.

The start, however, was cautious. The Leopards claimed the first quarter (29–23), putting early pressure on an Ivorian side still finding its rhythm. But the response was swift and decisive.

A Controlled Rise in Intensity

Led by an inspired duo, Nisre Zouzoua and Jean-Philippe Dally (15 points each), alongside Assemian Moulare and Jonathan Cissé (12 points), the Elephants gradually took full control of the game.

By halftime, Côte d’Ivoire had already turned things around (48–40), before extending their lead in the third quarter (64–49). Strong defensively, efficient in transition, and more composed in managing the tempo, the Ivorians eventually overwhelmed the Leopards.

Final score: 96–59 — a true display of strength and character.

Target: 3 Out of 3

This second win confirms Côte d’Ivoire’s strong momentum in the 2027 World Cup qualifiers.

Next up: Sunday, March 1 at 6:00 PM GMT at the Stade Marius N'Diaye against Madagascar.

The objective is clear: secure a perfect three wins out of three and firmly claim the top spot in Group B.
