The 69th Ballon d’Or ceremony took place on Monday, September 22, with Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé winning the men’s award and Aitana Bonmatí taking the women’s trophy.
On Monday evening, Ousmane Dembélé was awarded the 2025 Ballon d’Or. After a historic season with Paris Saint-Germain, the forward became the sixth French player in history to win the trophy, following Raymond Kopa, Michel Platini, Jean-Pierre Papin, Zinédine Zidane, and Karim Benzema. It was a perfect evening for Paris Saint-Germain, as Dembélé’s win was accompanied by Luis Enrique receiving the men’s Cruyff Trophy for best coach, and the Champions League winner being named the best men’s club of the year.
During this 69th edition, a total of 13 awards were handed out. Alongside Dembélé’s victory, Aitana Bonmatí won the Ballon d’Or Féminin for the third consecutive time. Earlier in the evening, FC Barcelona secured both Kopa Trophies, won by Lamine Yamal and Vicky López.
Sarina Wiegman, crowned at the European Championship with England, received the women’s Cruyff Trophy. Goalkeepers Hannah Hampton and Gianluigi Donnarumma were awarded the Yachine Trophy. The top scorers of the last season, Viktor Gyökeres and Ewa Pajor, received the Gerd Müller Trophies.
Arsenal WFC was named the best women’s club, while the foundation created by Luis Enrique, the Xana Foundation, won the Socrates Prize.
